Memorial Services for Cheryl A. Eiring, will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, August 30 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmot, SD. The Reverend K.C. Smith will officiate. Friends may visit with family one hour before the service at the church. Cheryl died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 22, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, MN. She was 70. She was born on August 31, 1948, in Watertown SD, the daughter of Russell and Mavis (Howell) Hicks. She graduated from Wilmot High School with the class of 1966. Cheryl married William “Bill” M. Eiring on November 25, 1978 and they moved to California. Cheryl did clerical work for an office in Los Angeles. They moved to Colorado for a short time and then to Augusta, Georgia where he had worked as a district manager for convenience stores. Cheryl and Bill retired and operated a bar in Seymour, MO. Cheryl had recently moved to rural Scarville, Iowa to be near her daughter Jennifer. She was an awesome seamstress, and enjoyed gardening and being surrounded by her feline companions. She was currently writing and was working on a book about growing up near Marvin, SD. Her heartstrings always pulled her back to the farm in South Dakota. Cheryl is survived by her daughter Jennifer and her husband Gary Wasmund of Thompson, Iowa. Her father Russell Hicks of Milbank, SD; brothers and sisters: James (Debra) Hicks, of Wilmot, SD, Teresa (David) Dashiell of Twin Brooks, SD, Susan (Brian) Buttke of Corona, SD, Michael (Michelle) of Wilmot, SD, Patrick (LaDonna) Hicks of Twin Brooks, SD; step children: Doug and Beth Milbrath of Eden Prairie, Mn, Michelle Eiring of Bloomington, MN, aunt Dorothy (Stan) Piechowski of Breckenridge, MN, and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Mavis Hicks and her husband Bill Eiring.
