William Whelan

The memorial service for William Martin Whelan will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 28, 2005, at St. Theodore Catholic, Albert Lea, MN. The Reverend Robert Schneider will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.



William died on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 65 years old.



William was born in Albert Lea, MN on August 24, 1939, the son of Martin and Clara (Sipple) Whelan. He was a lifetime resident of Freeborn County and was a graduate of Ellendale High School. He had worked as a mechinist and mechanic for Farmland in Albert Lea for 20 years and Lindberg Heat Treat in Edina, MN for 7 years.



William was united in marriage with Debra Selthun in July , 1999 in Owatonna, MN. They are members of St. Theodore Catholic Church. William enjoyed tinkering on machinery and tree farming.



William is survived by his wife, Debra of Clarks Grove, MN; six children: Doug Whelan of Albert Lea, MN, Elizabeth (Dwayne) Raney of Granite Falls, MN, Marie (Matt) Stevermer of Farmington, MN, Martin (Heather) Somnis of Geneva, MN, Bernice Brown of Granite Falls, MN, Daniel Whelan of Clarks Grove, MN; eight grandchildren; three brothers: Tim Whelan of Albert Lea, MN, Dennis (Alice) Whelan of Albert Lea, MN, Lewis Whelan of Mora, MN; two sisters: Laurel Whelan of Mankato, MN, Peggy Whelan of Motley, MN; nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters.
