WENDELL A. LIANE OBITUARY….

Wendell A. Liane was born on May 4, 1923 to Oluf and Ella (Christenson) Liane in

New Richland Township, Waseca Co., MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN. He graduated from New Richland High School in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1942 and was discharged in 1945 after being trained as a Bombardier.

He farmed on the family farm and retired in 1987 and moved to New Richland. He was married to Alice Rhiger on September 28, 1947. He is survived by his wife and their five children: Paul (special friend, Barb) Liane, David (Teresa) Liane, Ruth (Charles) Schwartz, Mark (Cindy) Liane, and John. He is also survived by his grandchildren; great grandchildren; step grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; brother-in-law Andy (Inga) Rhiger; sisters-in-law, Harriet Opdahl and Barbara Rhiger.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters, Mildred, Delores, Dorothy, Verdell, Evelyn; 2 brothers, Lloyd and Orville; In-laws: Holbeck & Brita Rhiger, Stanley (Abby) Rhiger, Selmer (Leona) Rhiger, Harold Rhiger and Arthur Rhiger.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church , American Legion (Past Commander), served on the township board; member of N.F.O.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church , New Richland, MN. Pastor Paul Andree and Pastor Ronald Brey officiating.

Visitation be held from 5-7 PM Friday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, MN and one hour before service at the church. Interment was in the St. Olaf Cemetery , New Richland, MN. Military Honors were accorded by New Richland Veterans Organization.

Wendell died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the New Richland Care Center , New Richland, MN. He was 85 years old.
