The memorial service for Walter "Waldo" Irvin Lenze Sr will be held at 11am on Wednesday at the Salvation Army. Visitation will be one hour prior.
Walter Lenze received his wings on August 23, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. He was 89 years old.
Walter was born on August 6, 1924 in Iowa to Walter J and Zella (Matthews) Lenze. He was married to the love of his life Alvina Nimz on July 1, 1950. Together they had four loving children, Linda, Julie, Walter Jr., and John.
Walter worked for the foundry, Albert Lea Taxi, and landscaping and laying sod. He enjoyed putting models together, camping, bowling, watching birds, watching television, fishing, and being a host of the campgrounds. In his younger years he was in the Navy and CB clubs where his CB name was "Waldo." He enjoyed making things out of acorns and tri-chem painting frying pans.
Walter is survived by his brothers, Marvin (Lorraine) Lenze of Albert Lea, and Albert Lenze of Albert Lea; daughter Julie Parmenter; sons, Walter Jr (Cindy) Lenze, and John (Barb) Lenze; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alvina Lenze; parents; mother and father in law; daughter, Linda Thrun; brothers in law; sister in law Shirley Nimz; sons in law, Jerry Carlsgaard and Raymond Parmenter; granddaughter, Rachel Lenze; and 5 sisters, Marzella Schaffer, Wilma Jordan, Mable Walton, Phyllis Pafford, and Jeanette Hathaway.
