Vivian Toenges

Funeral Services for Vivian I. (Troe) Toenges will be held at 10:00 A.M on Thursday at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Reverend John Holt and the Reverend Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be in Shady Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 -6:30 on Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the church. Vivian died on Monday, August 27, at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. She was 91. She was born on January 19, 1927, Silver Lake Township, Iowa, the daughter of Helmer T. and Myrtle L. (Hanson) Troe. She attended School District #2 until 8th grade, completed 9th grade in Emmons, MN, and then graduated from Albert Lea High School. She married Darwin “Darvey” Toenges on October 7, 1945 at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Vivian began her working career in sales at Wilson & Co, then worked for American Gas, the Diet Center, and then as a dietary aide at St. John’s Lutheran Home for 15 years, retiring in 2001. She as a member of First Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday School and was President of Circle #31 for 15 years. In earlier years she enjoyed being a 4-H leader. She had also served as the treasurer for Shady Oaks Cemetery for many years. Vivian enjoyed cooking, baking, collecting angels and playing cards. Vivian’s life was centered on faith and family. Vivian is survived by her children Larry Toenges of Albert Lea, Vergil(Emy)Toenges of Modesto, CA, Daniel Toenges of Albert Lea; daughter-in-law Jil Perreten of Lexington, MN; grandchildren: Todd (Darlene) Toenges of Modesto, CA, Colby Toenges of Turlock, CA, Meka (Nick) Simons of Emmons, MN, Sara Toenges of Austin, MN, Mindy (Tim) Mann of Albert Lea, Jason Toenges of Michigan and Brad Toenges of Minneapolis, MN; four step grandchildren: Kent Boyum, Tracie Anderson, Troy Anderson, Andrea Anderson; great grandchildren: Jewel, Jenna and Janessa Toenges, Tye and Piper Toenges, Axel Simons, Brianna, Madison and Brooklyn Mann Hannah(Jordan Barclay) and Chloe Larson, Grace Levell, Gabriel Toenges; great great grandson Jace Barclay, step great grandchildren Jared and Audry Olson; brother Duane (Sonja) Troe of Albert Lea and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darwin, son Charles Toenges, daughter-in-law Lora Toenges, father-in-law and mother-in-law Wesley and Hulda Toenges, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Aline and Alton Rogert.
