Remembering the life of Virginia (Shurson) Peterson
The Funeral Service for Virgina Shirley Peterson of New Richland, MN.,
will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran
Church in New Richland. Pastor Paul Andree will officiate. Interment
will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, New Richland. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, and one hour
before the service at the church.
Virginia died on Monday, July 26, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
She was 73.
She was born on May 23, 1931, in Albert Lea the daughter of Ben and
Agnes (Loken) Shurson.
She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland.
She graduated from New Richland High School in 1949.
On March 15, 1953, she was united in marriage to Vincent Peterson at Trinity
Lutheran Church, where they continue to be members. Virginia had
been very active in church activities throughout her life. She enjoyed painting ceramics, decorating for Christmas, helping with the Waseca County Fair and tending to her yard and flowers. She volunteered for many things with a very willing and giving heart. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities.
She is survived by her husband Vincent Peterson of New Richland, four children:
Curt Peterson and his wife Carol and their children Ryan, Jaclyn, and Aaron of
Bloomington, MN., Adryn Peterson and his wife Julie and their children Lacey,
Bjorn, and Onika of New Richland, Sharon Peterson of Burnsville, MN.,
Sandi and her husband Tom Rankin and their children Paige and Sam of
Ankeny, IA., brother George (Bud) Shurson and his wife Phyllis of New Richland,
sisters: Marjorie and her husband Leo Christenson of New Richland and
Joan McGuire of Eden Prairie, MN., sisters-in-law Lorayne Shurson of New Richland, Pat Shurson of West Salem, WI., Carol and her husband Rolland
Swenson of Otisco, MN., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Merle, Harold, Charles, and Virgil Shurson, a sister Beatrice Largent.
