The funeral service for Vida Jeanette Langlie of Colony Court, Waseca was held Friday, December 14, 2007 at the LeSueur River Lutheran Church, rural New Richland. Pastor Cary Larson officiated. Interment was in the Church Cemetery. Visitation was from 5-7p.m. at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland.
Vida died Monday December 10, 2007 at the New Richland Care Center. She was 95 years old.
Vida was born May 11, 1912 in New Richland, Minnesota to Anton and Hannah (Jacobson) Martinson. Vida was a lifetime Waseca County resident. She graduated from New Richland High School and Mankato State College. Vida was a member of the LeSueur River Lutheran Church. She was active in the church circles, altar guild and WELCA. She taught Sunday School and was Sunday School Superintendent. She also taught Bible School. Vida was an elementary school teacher. She taught in rural Waseca County schools and later in New Richland. Vida was instrumental in the formation of the special education program. She enjoyed teaching children with disabilities. Vida enjoyed traveling. Her family was very important to her.
Vida is survived by two daughters: Andrea Johnson and her husband Odean of New Richland, Minnesota and Kristine Kratz and her husband David of Decorah, Iowa; six grandchildren: Roxanne Johnson and friend Todd Holland, Keith Johnson (Kerri Johnson), Rochelle Compart and her husband Chris, Raeleen Johnson, Kyle Johnson and friend Jen Eickhoff and her daughters Ali and Ashley; and Ryan Kratz; six great grandchildren: Sara and Dustin Compart, Taylor Bolinger, Arin Boese, Kelby and Kaleb Johnson; sister-in-law: Florence Kingland.
Vida is preceded in death by her parents; husband Selmer on Feb. 14, 2002, 2 half brothers, 1 half sister, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
