Vernon Folven

Funeral services for Vernon Dale Folven will be held at 10 AM on Saturday October 5, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiester, MN. Pastor Dani Jo Ninke and Pastor Norman Bauer will officiate. Visitation from 4 to 7 on Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, as well as one hour prior to the service at church.
Vernon Folven passed away on Thursday September 26, 2013 at Good Samaritan in Albert Lea. He was 82 years old.
Vernon was born in rural Kiester on February 28 1931. The son of Gilbert and Alma (Fure) Folven he graduated from Kiester High School was drafted in the US Army. Vernon served his country from 1952-1960, fighting in the Korean War. On October 28, 1964 he was united in marriage to Sharron Leschefske in Souix Falls, SD. Together they raised three children.
After marriage Vernon and Sharron moved up to Rosemount, MN where they spent 30 years. He worked for Ford Motor Company in St Paul, and after retirement they returned to Kiester. They owned a cabin in Burnt Shanty where he was named the president of the 4th of July parade and made wonderful memories with the family. He was a member of the Wells VFW and Kiester Legion and loved bowling, baseball, football, and playing cards. Vernon loved his family, especially the grandkids, attending any activity he could. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Sharron Folven of Kiester; children, Teresa (John) Kinneberg of Owatonna, Todd (Sally) Folven of Cokato, and Colette (Michael) Lillibridge of Alden; grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Kathleen Kinneberg, Kyle, Jeremy, Ashley, and Allison Folven, Daniel and Brady Folven, and Jager Lillibridge; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Rowe of Albert Lea, and Janet (Carlyle) Engebretson of Albert Lea; nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Alma; and brothers and sisters, Omer, Jim, and Betty.
