Verina R. Nelson, age 89, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, passed away on January 5, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Verina R. Nelson, was born on March 7, 1925, in Wentworth, South Dakota. After her marriage to
Martin Nelson they farmed near Ramona, South Dakota. They later moved to Springfield, Minnesota, where she taught elementary students for 20 plus years.
They moved to Albert Lea in 2009 to be closer to family. While in Albert Lea, they spent their years
in St. John's Lutheran Home community. Verina, like Martin, enjoyed their years in the Albert Lea Community, especially their frequent rides thru the parks and boating around Fountain Lake. Her visits with her great grandsons were a special joy for her. The family would like to publicly extend a huge thank you to all the staff at St. John's Lutheran Home for the excellent care they provided Verina during her stay there. The staff is dedicated and much appreciated.
Martin passed away in April of 2013. The surviving family now includes children: Cheryl (Ben) Schultz, Apple Valley, MN, Bob (Donna) Nelson of Alden, MN, Roger (Cindy) Nelson of Gilbert, MN, Craig (Kristen) Nelson of Hoffman Estates, IL; Grandchildren: Sarah (Brian) Hensley of Albert Lea, MN, Rachael (Matt) Korman of Alden, MN, Ryan Nelson of Eveleth, MN and Leah Nelson of Duluth, MN; great grandchildren: Weston and Bennett Korman of Alden, MN, and many extended family members.
