Funeral services for Sylvia Evelyn Floden of New Richland, MN, will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland. Pastor Paul Andree will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, New Richland.
Sylvia died Wednesday morning, January 19, 2011 at the Colony Court in Waseca, MN. She was 92 years of age.
Sylvia was born May 16, 1918 in Brooten, MN, the daughter of John and Inger (Engelsjerd) Floden. At the age of 5 she came with her parents to a farm near Waldorf, MN. She graduated from Waldorf High School. During World War II she lived and worked in Lincoln, NB, CA and at the end of the war moved back to Minneapolis, MN, and worked for Honeywell with the Space Shuttle for 30 years. Sylvia retired in 1980 and lived with her mother in New Richland until 2008 then moving to Colony Court in Waseca.
Sylvia was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, active in the Ladies Aid, Circles, Altar Guild, quilting and volunteering.
Sylvia is survived by her brother, Elvin and his wife Barbara Floden of Waldorf, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sisters Elida Guse and Agnes Amundson and Brothers Harvey and Elmer Floden.
