Remembering the life of Sylvester “Pickles” John Besser….
The Funeral Service for Sylvester “Pickles” John Besser, 72, of New Richland, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Richland.
The Reverend Gerry Giese will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from
4-7 on Friday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland and one
hour before the service at the church.
Pickles died on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at his home after a three
year struggle with cancer.
He was born on January 26, 1937, in
He was baptized on May 9, 1948, and later confirmed on April 6, 1952.
He attended Waldorf Schools.
On
June 30, 1956, he married Nathalie Stiernagle in
In 1978,
he co-owned Bob’s Step Company which closed in 1984.
In 1985, he became owner of New Richland
Railing which he operated until selling and retiring in 1999.
After retiring, he so enjoyed being a “house husband” and became
very proficient in the daily household tasks as Nathalie was still
working.
For the past five years they had enjoyed spending their winters in
Pickles loved to play bingo and cards, especially with his
kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
A great day for Pickles was one
spent visiting with family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his family, wife Nathalie of New Richland;
children: Virginia (Duane) Raimann of New Richland, LaDonna (Larry)
Marik of New
with two on the way, sisters: Sylvia (William) Berg, Lorna (Ray) Motley,
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard, Robert and Ralph Besser, son-in-law Joseph Raimann, nephews Kenneth and Todd
Besser, Larry Smith, Kim Stiernagle,
great granddaughter Emma Marik at
birth, mother-in-law and father-in-law Rex and Annie Routh, brother-in-law
Robert Stiernagle.
