The funeral service for Stanford "Stan" Keith Berg will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Richland, MN. The Reverend Stephen Kurtzahn will officiate. Burial will be in Alma City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 PM Saturday at Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland and one hour before the service at the church.
Stan died on Monday, August 15, 2005 at Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 55 years old.
Stan was born on April 13, 1950, in Waseca, MN, the son of Lyall and Marie (Marzinske) Berg.
He attended school and graduated from New Richland High School in 1970 where he had played football and wrestled. He graduated from Mankato Tech. as mechanic. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Alma City where he had been baptized and confirmed. He married Kathleen Jo Norman on August 11, 1973, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Austin, MN, where he served on the church council for many years
Stan enjoyed spending time with his family and grandsons. Other interests included playing guitar and singing with his brother, Louis "Skeeter" and wood working. Stan enjoyed life to the fullest as all who knew him would know.
He worked for Bob's Step Company, Fox Inn, Frethum Bros. Excavating, R&M Backhoe, and he had owned and operated Berg's Auto Repair. He was presently employed by the City of New Richland.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen; daughters: Angela (Peter) McGannon of Waseca, Jodi (Adam) Groskreutz of Waldorf, Dawn (Eric) Degen of New Richland; son, Keith Berg of New Richland; grandsons: Wyatt Adam Groskreutz and Garett Stanford Degen; father, Lyall Berg of New Richland; brothers: Louis "Skeeter" (Elaine) Berg of Mazeppa, William (Sylvia) Berg of New Richland, Robert (Evelyn) Berg of New Ulm; sister, Barbara (Dennis) Grunwald of New Richland; sisters and brothers-in-law: Judy Low of Franklin, Kentucky, Georgena and Kevin Linbo of Hayfield, Maryann and Eugene Schlaak of New Richland.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Berg; mother and father-in-law, Irene and George Norman; sister and brother-in-law, Deloris and Roy Dyke.
