Simon Lee

Simon passed away on July 25, 2015 at the Albert Lea Medical Center at the age of 85. Funeral services for Simon will be held at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bonnerup on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea.

Simon Allen Lee was born May 22, 1930 in Albert Lea to Simon and Ellen (Christensen) Lee. Simon was a member of First Lutheran Church, where he had served as an usher for many years. He served in the Navy in Norfolk, VA in 1948-49. On August 15, 1952, he and Arlene Hengesteg were married in Sioux Falls, SD.

He worked for (Wilson's) Farmstead for over 42 years, retiring in 1990 when they closed. He golfed on several league teams while working. After retirement, he golfed Mondays and Fridays with the "seniors." When he retired, he and his wife started walking over three miles per day. They enjoyed watching great-grandchildren play hockey and baseball. Simon and Arlene traveled to Branson, MO and saw several shows, visited a mall, Silver Dollar City, and had breakfast on a Riverboat.

Simon liked to watch "westerns" and listen to country music. Wintertime was Simon's puzzle time. He was a member of the Eagles Club.

Simon is survived by his wife, Arlene, of 62 years; sons, Jerry (Sheila), Rick (Barb), Steven (Connie), Danny (Cindy), Jim, Keith; daughter, Lori Lee; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-granddaughters; brothers, Chuck (Tootie), Kenny (Darlene), Gary (Mona); and sister-in-law, Sheila Lee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Beulah Lillefloren and Joyce Sward; brother, Richard (Dick) Lee; and brothers-in-law, Ken Lillefloren and Roger Sward.
