Obituary for Shirley Lois Kyllo
The funeral service for Shirley Lois Kyllo will be at 11:00 AM Friday, September 19, 2003, at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, MN. The Reverend John Holt will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the church.
Shirley died on Monday, September 15, 2003, at St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, MN. She was 82 years old.
Shirley was born in Faribault, MN on November 28, 1920, the daughter of Edward and Melinda (Petrich) Dickmann. At the age of four Shirley went to live with her grandfather and aunt in Elgin, MN after the death of her mother. She moved to Rochester, MN when she started junior high school and was a 1938 graduate of Rochester High School. Following high school she worked for the Northwestern Bell in Rochester and later in Minneapolis.
On May 13, 1944, Shirley was united in marriage with Marvin Elroy Kyllo in the First Methodist Church, Boise, Idaho. They had lived in Boise, Idaho, Newport News, VA, and Minneapolis, MN before moving to Albert Lea in 1951. They were members of First Lutheran Church where she had been active in women's groups and mission circle. They owned and operated North Side Hardware for several years. Shirley enjoyed playing bridge, needlework and reading.
Shirley is survived by two sons: Jamie Kyllo and his wife, Nancy of Albert Lea, MN and Eric Kyllo of Waco, TX; three grandchildren: Kristin Kyllo of St. Peter, MN, Brian Kyllo of Albert Lea, MN, Amy Ladlie and her husband, Aaron of Albert Lea, MN; one great grandson, William Ladlie of Albert Lea, MN; four sisters: Naomi Villwock of Huxley, IA, Jan Hyatt of Spokane, WA, Dorothy Erickson and her husband, Berdine of Rochester, MN, Majoria Rostomily of Rochester, MN; one sister-in-law, Clarice Peters and her husband Gene, Wichita, KS; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin on February 23, 2003; son, Kim on February 18, 2003; one brother, Roy Dickmann; two sisters, Demay Hammond and Derith Curtright.
Shirley will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Blessed be her memory.
