Sandra Josephine Sola, a caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 5, 2025, six days short of her 82nd birthday. Sandra was born in Hammond, MN to Lawrence and Margaret Stensrud, and was the third oldest of eleven children.
For 24 years, Sandra was married to Paul Sola, raising five children in rural Glenville, MN before he passed away in 1990. Family was extremely important to Sandra, and she enjoyed spending quality time with every family member. Sandra had a strong Christian faith and loved serving the Lord. She was very active in her church teaching Sunday School, leading Bible Studies, and coordinating VBS for many years, while continuing to grow in her faith by studying her Bible daily. Sandra was an avid reader with a desire to always learn more. She loved to cook and bake, always having food and desserts prepared for others to enjoy. Sandra was the head cook at the Glenville-Emmons school district for many years.
Sandra is survived by her children, Peter (Sarah), John (Denise), Kristine (Jon) Nelson, Rebecca, and Amy (Kevin) Learn; grandchildren Carter, Ryan (Katelyn), Kaitlyn, Morgan, Palmer, Jay, Aubrey, Paige, and Olivia; great grandchildren Abigail and Charlotte; siblings Mary Berndt, Charles (Elaine) Stensrud, Hank Stensrud, Bill (Julie) Stensrud, Carol (Mike) Williams, Tina (Rick) Barnhart, and Mark Schultz; sister-in laws Sue and Judy Stensrud; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul; father and mother in-law Palmer (Mabel) Sola; siblings Dewey (Anita), Phil, and Rudy Stensrud; in-laws Iner (Harriet) Sola, Marjorie (Velmer) Nieman, Carolyn Sola, Rudy Berndt, and Cindy Stensrud; nephews Jason Barnhart, Tyler Schultz, and Ross Stensrud.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 10 from 5 - 7pm at Bonnerup in Albert Lea, MN. Funeral service with luncheon will be held on Friday, April 11 at 10:30am at Faith Lutheran Church, London, MN located at 11690 903rd Ave, Glenville, MN with visitation one hour before the service. Interment will follow the service at London-Deer Creek cemetery in rural Northwood, IA.
