The Funeral Service for Ruth L. Sorbo, of Glenville, MN, will be held at 10:30 P.M. on Saturday, December 29, 2007, at First Lutheran Church, Glenville. The Reverend Gail Klavetter will officiate. Interment will be in
Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. on Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
Ruth died on her favorite day, Christmas Day, at Good Samaritan Center, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born on May 8, 1923 in Worth County, Iowa the daughter of Earl and Myrtle (Hagerud) Wadding Sr. She grew up in the Glenville area and attended rural country schools. Her father died when she was a young girl and Ruth began working for several area families.
She married Remore Steene on March 14, 1942, he died in 1966. On November 29, 1969, she married Orien Sorbo, he also preceded her in death in 2002.
Ruth had worked at Wilson & Co, Carroll George in Northwood, and was a cook at Glenville Schools for several years.
She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Glenville, where she had been active in circle.
She was also a member of the Glenville Senior Citizens, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Ruth was an avid Twins fan, and in her later years, enjoyed the opportunity to listen or watch them play whenever she could.
She is survived by five children: Butch (Sandy) Steene of Glenville, Gerry (Helen) Steene of Alden, Linda Bighley of Glenville, Mike Steene and special friend Sandy McKay of Glenville, Steve Sorbo of Glenville; grandchildren: RaNae Steene, Melanie (Todd) Nelson, Emerlee (Bruce) Stilley, Wade (Carolina) Steene, Shawn (Denise) Steene, Shannon "Tud" Steene, Justin (April) Bighley, Chad (Michelle) Steene, Christa (Brian) Lyons, and Cameron (Kelly) Steene; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters Audrey (Marion) Mehus of Glenville, Wanda (Mike) Hoiseth of Albert Lea, special friends Connie Haroldson and Robert Olson, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Remore Steene and Orien Sorbo, daughter Kathy Steene, granddaughter Kayla Steene, three brothers Dale, Earl and Wayne Wadding.
Ruth?s life was about giving, she loved and gave with her whole heart. The memories of her fun loving teasing and her ability to laugh and share our tears
will always be apart of us.
Ruth will be greatly missed by her family and even though she is no longer her with us, she will always be lovingly thought of as the "boss".
