Ruth Berg

The Funeral Service for Ruth M. Berg, of Albert Lea, formerly of Emmons, MN, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 30, at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Father Timothy T. Reker and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Ruth died on Monday evening, November 26, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. She was 89. Ruth was born on a farm near Waltham, MN on July 25, 1923. Shegraduated from Blooming Prairie High School. On August 5, 1944, Ruth married Elmer E. Berg at Fort Riley, Kansas. When Elmer returned from the service, they made their home in Emmons. Throughout her life Ruth had worked at the Emmons Corner Café, Arrowhead Golf Course, Johnson Floral and sold Avon. Due to her failing health, she moved to Oak Park Place in Albert Lea in 2007. She had been an active member of St. James Catholic Parish in Twin Lakes, MN. Ruth was also involved in the Civic Improvement Club of Emmons, the Senior Citizens, and many other community activities. She loved to dance, golf, help with- and play bingo, playing cards and watching sporting events, especially her grandchildren's. Ruth enjoyed being around people, making special treats like chocolate chip cookies, and having her family together. She is survived by four children: Robert Berg and his wife Mary Jo of Oakdale, MN, Bonnie Hall and her significant other Gary Kavars of Clear Lake, IA, James Berg and his wife Jill of Albert Lea, and Jerry Berg and his wife Vicky of Stillwater, MN; grandchildren: Matthew Berg and his wife Kelly of Hudson, WI, Shelli Akers and her husband Chris of Woodbury, MN, Jeffrey Hall and his wife Melissa of Jacksonville, FL, Jesslyn Hall and Dustin Duea of Scottsdale AZ, Jennifer Worley-Thompson and her husband Amber of Minneapolis, MN, Elizabeth Berg of Minneapolis, MN, Ethan Berg and his wife Stephanie of Otley, IA, Maggie, Samuel and Weston Berg of Stillwater, MN; greatgrandchildren: Madison and Kadyn Berg of Hudson, WI, Joshua and Sophie Hall of Jacksonville, FL, Emanuelle Hall of Scottsdale, AZ, Christian Harden of Minneapolis, MN, Treighton and Eliana Thompson of Minneapolis, MN, and Addison Berg of Otley, IA; sisters: Dorothy Herron of Blooming Prairie, MN, Elizabeth Fredrickson of Hayfield, MN, Hilda Turner and her husband Norman of Austin, MN; sister's-in-laws: Marilyn Fiebiger of Blooming Prairie, MN, Ruby O'Connor of Davenport, IA, Lorraine Berg of Algona, IA, Laila Lewis of Kansas City, Geneva Finlayson, Lucille and her husband Dick Sabol, and Lorelei Berg of California and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1999, her grandson Andrew Berg; brothers and sisters: Fred, Frank, Carl and Bob Fiebiger , Frieda Kvansnicka and Edith Kruckeberg.
