Russell Miller

Memorial services for Russell Theodore Miller of Lake Mills, Iowa, formerly of Rochester, MN, will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert lea. Pastor John Holt of the First Lutheran Church will officiate. Friends can meet the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea, MN. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Groups.
Russell died Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Mayo Health System Albert Lea. He was 85 years of age.
Russell was born August 21, 1930 in Austin, MN, the son of Theodore and Helen (Berg) Miller. He attended public school in Austin and Albert Lea, attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from the Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis, MN.
He served his country in the US Army from 1954 thru 1957 and again from 1961 thru 1963 and was stationed in Germany and France. On January 30, 1975 he was united in marriage to Lucille H. Olson in Northwood, Iowa. They resided for many years in Rochester, MN, where Russell worked at St Mary's Hospital retiring after over 20 years.
Russell loved horse racing, the Minnesota Vikings and enjoyed reading.
He is survived by his step daughters Terry Jensen and significant other, Damian Deegan of Lake Mills, IA and Linda (Chuck) Pownell of Albert Lea, MN. Grandchildren include Angela (Corey) Andresen, Kristina (Geoff) Ongaga, Tracy Pownell and Tina (Jonah) Tasker. Great grandchildren include Justine Duenes, Alexa Duenes, Selene Duenes, Sidney Andresen, Brian Andresen Tyler Pirsig, Ethian Tasker and Addison Tasker.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, step mother and wife Lucille in 1997.
