Rose Harty

Funeral services for Rose Marie Harty of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, January 17, 2005 at St Theodore Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4 until 8 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a scripture prayer service Sunday evening at 7:30 PM. Interment will be in St Theodore Catholic Cemetery.

Rose Marie died at her home on Wednesday evening surrounded by her family. She was 73 years of age.

Rose Marie was born August 8, 1931 in Eveleth, MN, the daughter of Andrew and Carmella (Lovallo) Babbini. She was a graduate of Mt. Iron High School, and in 1953 graduated from St Catherine?s College with a degree in Library Science. On July 13, 1957 she was united in marriage to Gerald Harty in Mt. Iron, MN.

Rose Marie was employed by the Owatonna Library for a short time before moving to Albert Lea in 1957. She accepted a job with the Albert Lea Public Library in 1959. She retired in 1994 after 35 years with the Library. After her retirement she was employed part time with the Anderson Hallmark Store at Northbridge Mall.

Rose Marie was a member of St Theodore Catholic Church and was active as a Eucharistic Minister, and played in the Bell Choir. She was an active member of TOPS (MN Chapter 153), Last Wednesday Book Club, Association of University Women, The Albert Lea Senior Volunteers, she helped with the English as a second language classes, Board of Directors for the Doll Museum, and a spark plug for the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Rose Marie also set up the Library at St Theodore School. In her free time, Rose Marie loved to read.

She is survived by her husband Gerald of Albert Lea, MN. Children; Cathy and her husband Randy Kight of Sartell, MN, and Kevin and his wife Sandy Harty of Superior, WI. There are four grandchildren; Emily and Spencer Kight, Melissa Harty and Cassie Keeler.

Rose Marie was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers; Joe, Michael and Paul Babbini.
