Memorial services for Ronald Jans of Waseca, MN, will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland, MN, Pastor Pamela Jensen will officiate. Friends may greet the family from 1:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Spring interment will be in St Peter's Cemetery in New Richland. Military honors will be accorded in the spring by the New Richland Area Veterans.
Ronald died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee, MN. He was 65 years of age.
Ronald was the son of Harold and Ethel (Ewart) Jans, born January 28, 1949 in Mankato, MN. He graduated from Waldorf-Pemberton High School. After High School he served in the United States Marine Corps. On October 21, 1972 he was united in marriage to Renae Besser at the Congregational Church in New Richland, MN.
In 2011 Ron retired from Northstar Block in Medford, MN. He enjoyed family, fishing and going to the casino.
Ronald is survived by his wife Renae of Waseca, MN, sons David Jans of Owatonna, MN, and Thomas (Celena) Jans of New Richland, MN. There are four granddaughters Madison, Lexus, Mya and Alycia. Two brothers Marlin (Eloise) Jans of Brainerd, MN, Richard (Doris) Jans of Mankato, MN, two sisters LaVonne Hurd of North Carolina and Betty (Ronald) Joyce of Janesville, MN. There is one brother in law Mark (Kim) Besser of South Dakota and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Ethel, maternal in laws Richard and Joan Besser, grandparents, niece Wendy Jans-Huxford, nephew Steven Prail and brother in law Jim Hurd.
