Memorial Services for Rocky A. Larsen, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 26, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Reverend John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran's Organizations. Friends may visit with family from 4-7 on Friday, at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
Rocky died suddenly surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. He was 62. He was able to donate tissue and also his corneas. He was born on January 7, 1954, in Albert Lea, the son of Alvin and Leatrice "Kay"(Knudtson) Larsen. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. Rocky attended Albert Lea High School and then proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines. He later was in the Reserves, serving our country from 1972 until his honorable discharge in 1978. He received his GED while in the service and also attained the reputation of excellence as a marksman.
Rocky married Mary Samudio on September 9, 1978 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. They were later divorced. He worked at Borderline Siding, Imperial and later Larson Manufacturing.
Rocky had many interests including belonging to the Eagles Club, fishing, camping, carpentry, playing pool, and watching football. He loved hosting the 4th of July barbecue and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Rocky will be greatly missed by his father Alvin Larsen of Albert Lea, his four children: Roxanna Tietz of Bloomington, MN, Heather Larsen and fiancé Tyler Baas and children Brandon, Makayla, Madalynn and soon so arrive Brantley, Travis Larsen of Albert Lea, and Kristan (Dustin) Lynch and son Carter of Albert Lea; siblings: Danny Tuttle of Twin Lakes, MN, Dixie (Ron) Mills of Sacramento, CA, Robin Larsen of Albert Lea, Penny (Chuck) Mixson of Fairmont, MN, Rikki Wrolson (David Zellmer) of Fairmont, MN, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Leatrice "Kay" Larsen, sister-in-law Patricia Tuttle and his maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles.
In addition to protecting our country, Rocky took great pride in protecting those he loved. He will be affectionately remembered as the soft hearted protector of all, loved by so many, he will be greatly missed.
