Roberto "Bob" Flores Garza

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Roberto “Bob” Flores Garza, 77, passed away peacefully in his Albert Lea residence, surrounded by family on Sunday, December 17, 2023.  Born on July 9, 1946, in Crystal City, Texas, to Antonio and Saragoza (Flores) Garza, Bob was one of eight children. On February 22, 1964, Bob married Susie Chavez in Lubbock, Texas. Together they welcomed three children, Robert Jr., Nellie, and Michelle.

Bob dedicated over two decades of his life to working as a factory worker in the meatpacking industry for Wilson Foods Inc. His unwavering commitment and strong work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues and supervisors alike. He was a diligent and reliable employee who took pride in his work.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bob had a zest for life that was infectious to all who knew him. He had a passion for playing pool and was even honored with induction into the Billiards Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. Bob loved nothing more than spending time at the local pool hall, engaging in friendly competition and sharing laughter with his friends.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed trips to the casino, testing his luck and adding excitement to his days. However, above all else, his greatest joy came from being with his adored family. From family gatherings to cherished visits with his grandchildren, Roberto's heart was full when surrounded by his loved ones.

Bob will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Susie Garza; his children, Robert Garza Jr., Nellie (Michael Anderson) Garza, and Michelle (Silvio) Romero; grandchildren, Desiray (Miguel) Ortiz, Jordan Lozano, Devon (Mike) Olson, and Lizette Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Lorayna (Alec Schorn) Ortiz, Elliot Ortiz, Oliver Ortiz, and Walker Olson; siblings, Joe Mendez, Leonor Leal, and Richard (Gloria) Garza; and many nieces and nephews.  He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication that will continue to inspire future generations.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Saragoza Garza; siblings, Ray Mendez, Rosa Mendez, Jesse Mendez, Tony Garza, and brother-in-law Fidel Leal.

A memorial service will be held on a Saturday, January 6, 2024, 1 p.m. at Grace Christian Church in Albert Lea, with Pastor George Marin officiating. The family will receive family and friends at a visitation one hour prior to service at the church. A luncheon will follow the service.
