Funeral services for Robert "Bob" James Weigel of Glenville, MN, will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN. Pastor James Kassera will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4 until 7 PM at the Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery; Albert Lea. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Groups.
Bob died Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center. He was 69 years of age. He was born October 27, 1943 in Freeborn County, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Giles) Weigel. He graduated from Albert Lea High School and Vocational training as a mechanic. He served his country for two years serving a tour of duty in Viet Nam.
On November 28, 1964 he was united in marriage to Linda Jacobson. Bob worked for 30 years at Wilson's in Albert Lea 13 of those years as maintenance supervisor. He started Stateline Storage and Bob's Clean Sweep and worked at many misc. jobs. He was a member of AA for over 40 years. Bob was a best provider and his family always came first. Bob enjoyed camping and the outdoors with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife Linda of Glenville, MN, children Douglas Weigel of Albert Lea, MN, Kevin (Jackie) Weigel of Austin, MN, and Cassandra (Todd) Boettcher of Albert Lea, MN. Grandchildren include Darian Weigel, Darik Weigel, Jaydon Weigel, Robert Weigel ll, Paige Weigel, Katie Boettcher, Anna Boettcher and Aaron Boettcher. There are two brothers Larry Weigel of Glenville, MN, Fred (Robin) Weigel of Albert Lea, MN, and one sister Julie (Harlan) Latusek of Wells, MN, several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara Weigel and granddaughter Natasha Weigel.
Memorials preferred to Albert Lea Hospice.
