Robert Tietz

The Funeral Service for Robert "Bob" Tietz will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. The Reverend Richard Spande will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran's Organizations. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Robert died on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society. He was 77. He was born on January 7, 1934, in Clayton, Iowa, the son of George and Margarette (McGill) Frye. His father George, died when he was 39, and in 1940, Robert was adopted by Arthur and Gertrude Tietz of Lakota, Iowa. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines on December 28th, 1952, receiving his honorable discharge in December of 1954. He had served as a coach on the rifle range while serving in the Marine Corp and was nicknamed "Robinhood" because he was such an excellent marksmen. Bob was united in marriage to Patricia Jean LaMont on January 20, 1952, in Lakota, Iowa. Following his return from the service, Bob worked for HR Lovall Gravel in Winnebago, Queens Stove for a short time and then returned to HR Lovall Gravel. He later worked for Streater as an over the road trucker, retiring after 34 years. Bob enjoyed waterskiing, baseball, boxing, football, traveling on his Harley, and "catching fish" on Fountain Lake. He also enjoyed playing pool, cribbage and poker. He is survived by his children: Bonnie (Daniel) Anderson of Albert Lea, Sharon Bolinger of Albert Lea, Cathy (Richard) Martinez of Loveland, CO, Danny Tietz of Albert Lea; many grandchildren and great grandchildren;
brother Ted (Janice) Grell of Gas City, Indiana, sister LaDonna (James) Specht of Cherokee, IA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia J. Tietz, daughter Connie, infant son Robert, parents George and Margarette Frye, adoptive parents Arthur and Gertrude Tietz, brothers Jim Grell and Paul Bauer, special friend Kathleen Thofson.
