Robert Nolting

The memorial service for Robert (Bob) E. Nolting of Albert Lea, Minnesota will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the United Methodist Church, Albert Lea. The Reverend John Bromeland will officiate. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the American Legion Post 56, United Methodist Church, Albert Lea Senior Citizens or Donors choice. Military Honors will be accorded. Bob died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN. He was 90 years old. Bob was born November 4, 1919 in Albert Lea, MN to Edward and Alice (Gall) Nolting. He has been a lifetime Albert Lea resident, graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1937 and Albert Lea Junior College in 1938. He then began working for Wilson's until entering the U. S. Army Medical Corp. during WWII serving in Germany. In 1945 Bob entered the University of Minnesota Pharmacy School. Upon graduation, he worked for Sanders Drug for 10 years, and then set up the first in house Pharmacy at Naeve Hospital from 1954-1956. Bob also taught classes for the Naeve Hospital Nurses program, Bob married Eleanor (Lea) Wedekind on June 19, 1954 at the First Presbyterian Church, Albert Lea. Bob owned the West Side Pharmacy from June 1, 1960 to November 1983 when he retired. Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church his entire life and had been an usher. Bob was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Senior Citizens and while working the Kiwanis Club. Bob enjoyed fishing and taking fishing trips to Canada, playing Bridge and golfing. He stopped golfing four years ago. Bob is survived by his wife Eleanor (Lea) Nolting of Albert Lea, MN; two children: Mary Nolting of Elk River, MN and Doug Nolting of Ham Lake, MN; Ginny Nolting and grandchildren Christopher and Emily Nolting of Brooklyn Park, MN; several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Alice Nolting; three sisters: Virginia Nolting, Helen (Bernard) Yocom and Lou (Bob) Crocker; brother: Charles (Wini) Nolting.
