The funeral service for Robert Lee Kalbow of Hartland, Minnesota will be 10:00a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, MN. Pastor Dennis Frank will officiate. Interment will be in the Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, MN and one hour before the service on Wednesday. Robert died Sunday June 3, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN. He was 69 years old.
Robert was born July 24, 1942 in Mankato, MN. He attended New Richland School. Robert had lived in Aitkin, MN, New Richland, MN the majority of his life and most recently, Hartland, MN to be close to his family. Robert married Janice Cichos on October 29, 1960 at All Saints Catholic Church, New Richland. Robert had worked for Land-O-Lakes, Kalke's, drove truck, EF Johnson and Gopher Sports and retired early for health reasons. Robert enjoyed reading about wildlife, fishing and deer hunting with his family. He also enjoyed watching Western movies, All Star Wrestling and the weather channel. He had a special love for animals, especially his favorite cat Duffy.
Robert is survived by his wife Janice Kalbow of Hartland, MN; children: Lynn Somage and her husband Mike of Hartland, MN and Kerry Kalbow of New Richland, MN; grandchildren: Chris Somage, Tory Somage, Calvin Somage and Kaylee Kalbow; mother and father-in-law: Arvin and Ann Schmidt; brother and sister-in-law: Gene and Laurie Cichos. Robert is preceded in death by is mother and step father: Edward and Leona Nessett; beloved in-laws: Philip and Marie Cichos; brother-in-law: Bill Cichos.
