Robert (Bob) James Hebl, age 82, of Austin, MN, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born December 31, 1942, in Austin, MN, to Lewis Hebl and Marjorie (Ross) Vietor. He attended Austin schools and went on to serve in the U.S. Army for 32 years, both active duty and in the Reserves.
In 1973, he married Judy Petersen. Together they raised four daughters and built a large and loving family. Bob worked at Wilson Foods for 20 years and later at Quality Pork Processors for another 20 years. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering with Semcac where he delivered meals to the elderly.
Bob loved fishing, playing cards and pool, traveling, gambling, and watching football. He was known for his quick wit and love of storytelling-especially about his time in Germany and his military service and he never missed a chance to tease with a twinkle in his eye. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His devotion to his grandchildren ran deep he even traveled to San Antonio, Texas, to spend a month with his granddaughter Heidi while she was stationed there for the Army.
He is survived by his daughters: Lisa (Shawn) Legried, Lana (Dan) Munsterman, and Heather (Tom) Novak; 11 grandchildren: Lynae, Leah, Kane, Tyler, Kyle, Heidi, Eric, Michael, Jacob, David, and Lilianna; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings: Sharon Knutson, Janet (David) Tetinger, Craig Vietor, and Mary (Jeff) McNiff; sister-in-law: Sally Vietor; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
