Robert Phillip Breid, age 101, of New Richland, passed away on Thursday, November 28th, at the Mayo Health Clinic in Waseca, MN.
A Private Funeral Service will be held at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services Ellendale Chapel, with a Private Interment to follow at Berlin Cemetery in Ellendale, MN.
Robert was born to Ferdinand and Anna Breid on August 13, 1923. While many of his siblings went off to seminary, he stayed to help his father on the family farm. On March 9, 1945, Robert married the love of his life, Doris, in Wadena, Minnesota. In 1948, they moved and made New Richland their home.
Robert was a charter member at the Ellendale Assembly of God Church, and remained active in the church throughout his time living in New Richland. He worked as the parts manager of Budach’s in New Richland until retiring at age 62. During his time there, he worked hard and was frequently on call to be available to those who needed help no matter the hour.
Robert was a kind and humble man, and his family was his life. He taught himself how to bake and enjoyed making anything from spice cakes to brownies and fudge, often experimenting with ingredients. He was something of a tinkerer, and could be found either working on cars such as his beloved Edsel, completing a new one thousand-piece puzzle, or woodworking. He enjoyed technology and regularly played computer games.
Before Doris passed, they would often travel together across the United States, and to visit their daughter Sandy. He often shopped with Doris, as both enjoyed looking their best at every opportunity.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Sandra “Sandy” K. (the late Allan) Stanko and Cynthia “Cindy” (Alvin L.) Morstad; grandchildren Adam (Annie) Morstad and Anthony “Tony” Morstad; great-grandchildren Leah Morstad and Levi (Alexis) Morstad; brother of Milton (Shirley) Breid; and brother-in-law Lester (Lorraine) Volsen.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Ferdinand and Anna S. Breid; his wife Doris; and his siblings Ferd (June) Breid Jr., Eugene (Lucille) Breid, Jean (Elton) Ruhn, and Pauline (Robert) Dewey.
Robert was adored by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
