The Funeral Service for Richard W. Peterson of rural
Geneva
,
Minnesota
will be held at
1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 20, 2009 at the
United
Methodist
Church
in
Geneva
.
The Reverend Gary Liker will officiate.
Interment will be in the
Geneva
Cemetery
.
Visitation will be from 4- 7 on Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Ellendale
and one hour before the service at the church.
Richard died on Monday, November 16, 2009 at the
New
Richland
Care
Center
after a struggle with cancer.
He was 86.
He was born on December 15, 1922, in
Freeborn
County
the son of Anton and Mildred
(
Hamilton
) Peterson.
He attended
rural
Farr
School
and then began working
on the farm with his parents.
On
April 19, 1944, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Anderson at the parsonage in
Geneva
.
They made their home, raised their family and farmed N.E. of Geneva
for more than 65 years.
He was a member of the
United
Methodist
Church
in
Geneva
.
Although his passion was farming, especially his dairy cattle, he also enjoyed fishing
and stock car racing.
He will be greatly missed by his family, wife Myrtle of rural
Geneva
, three children:

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Jeffrey Karl, brother Ferris
Peterson and sister Emma Wagner.
