Richard Jensen

The memorial service for Richard "Dick" E. Jensen will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Pastor Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church.

Richard E. Jensen passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013 at his home in Glenville. He was 82 years old.

Richard was born on November 21, 1930 in Albert Lea, and was the son of Palmer and Florence Jensen. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1948 and then attended ERTI Electronics in the cities where he learned Morse code for the railroads. On June 1, 1954 he was united in marriage to Marlene Klukow at the Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a member. The two lived in Albert Lea before moving to Glenville where they have been for the last 40 years.

In his younger years Richard worked for Emil Olson's Redi Mix in the summer and drove a taxi in the winter. In 1967 he began working at Streaters until his retirement in 1995. He also helped his father on the farm.

Richard was a member of the Elks and loved to hunt, trap, and play cribbage. He loved his family and was always easy going, kind, and compassionate. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be missed by all those who knew him. Bless his memory.

Richard is survived by his wife, Marlene Jensen of Glenville; daughters, Debbie Jensen of Hayward and Joy Bjornstad of Glenville; grandchildren, Kaleb (Tracy) Bjornstad of Freeborn, Justin Bjornstad of Glenville and Jessica Bjornstad and her fiancé Seth of Albert Lea; great grandchildren, Kyra, Hailey and Kade; brothers, Robert D (Lois) Jensen of CA and Jim Jensen of CA; aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Palmer and Florence.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
