Raymond Anson Gold Jr.
Born October 16th 1933, Albert Lea, Minnesota
Went to heaven June 16th 2020 Daytona Beach, Florida
Ray (Dad) moved his family from Minnesota in the early 60's to Newtown, CT with his wife Lois (Bussman) and his three sons Stephen, Peter and Michael. Always the entrepreneur, he started the CT Stamp and Coin Company dealing with rare numismatics and philately.
Later, he earned his Real Estate and Insurance licenses and formed the Ray Gold Real Estate and Insurance Agency.
From there, Ray went into the bar business in Daytona Beach and formed Froggy's Saloon and later built the world famous One-Eyed Jacks Saloon in Sturgis, SD. Ray made 39 consecutive rallys in Sturgis, a rare feat by any imagination.
Ray was loved by many and his friends said he was their favorite!
Ray is predeceased by his parents Ray Gold Sr and Anna-Marie (Anderson) Gold, and a son Phillip.
Ray (Dad) is survived by his three sons:
Stephen and his wife Patti of Cave Creek, AZ and their three children Bryan, Kristen and Tyler and two great grandchildren Abbey and Jack.
Peter and his wife Noi of Phuket, Thailand and their two sons Peter Jr and Nicholas, daughter Nat and her partner Vince and two great grandchildren Vince Jr and Natalia.
Michael and his wife Kathleen of New Milford, CT and their two sons Austin and Ayden.
A lay to rest service will take place in Albert Lea, MN on Wednesday, June 24th at 11am Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jan Crissinger officiating.
Ray (Dad) will be greatly missed.
