Funeral services for Raymond Dale Draayer of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel. Reverend Richard Spande will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4 until 7 PM at the Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior the service at the chapel. Interment will be in the Geneva Cemetery, Geneva, MN.
Raymond died Friday evening, February 3, 2012 at his home in Albert Lea. He was 67 years of age.
Ray was born February 12, 1944 in Hollandale, MN, the son of Bert and Gertrude Draayer. He attended public school in Hollandale. Ray was a lifelong resident of Freeborn County. For over 20 years he had been employed by Broskoff Structures in Geneva. He mentored many of the employees over the years and considered them "The Boys".
Ray was a member of the Albert Lea Moose Club and the Eagle's Club. He enjoyed fishing with buddies and working on and cleaning his cars. Many trips to Branson MO, were taken over the years. The true love of his life was time spent with family and grandkids. After his death, Ray was a proud donor to the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank.
Raymond is survived by his spouse Darlene Casterton of Albert Lea, MN, children; Brian and his wife Jill Draayer of Mazeppa, MN, Brenda and her husband Steve Kuettner of Cottage Grove, MN, Alan and his wife Amy Casterton of Albert Lea, MN, Craig and his wife Angie Padgett of Mankato, MN. Grandchildren include; Tyler (fiancé Amanda) Draayer, Stephanie Draayer, Spencer Draayer, Gabriel and Hannah Kuettner, Dustin Haxton, Loren Lynch, Brockton Casterton, Colton Casterton, Tanner Casterton, Davis Casterton, Phoenix Shepherd and Dakota Shepherd. There are two sisters; Evelyn (Gerrit) Ravenhorst of Hollandale, MN, Betty (Leonard) Boysen of Madison, MN, brother; Bill (Pat) Draayer of Hollandale, MN, and many nieces and nephews. ½ brother and sisters include; Susan Tabor, Carolyn Pfifer, Gertrude Draayer, Barb Draayer and David Draayer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John, Henry, Robert and Jim.
