Raymond R. Delgado, Jr., better known as Dick Delgado, 82, of Hollandale, passed away June 26, 2018, from a brain injury. He passed peacefully with family and friends at his side. A memorial mass followed by cemetery interment and reception will be held at 11:00 am, August 18, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, north of Maple Island on County Road 30, at 84970 310th Street, Ellendale, Minnesota.
A life-long resident of Hollandale, Dick was born March 27, 1936. He graduated Albert Lea High School in 1954 and farmed potatoes and other vegetables with his father and brothers for over 35 years. Dick was a veteran of the Viking Division of the Minnesota National Guard where he served on the parade drill team. In retirement, he drove school bus for Crookston and Austin school districts, as well as volunteering at school libraries. He was an Elks, Eagles, and American Legion member, as well as active in numerous clubs and associations. Dick enjoyed motorcycling, gardening, travelling by RV, antique collecting, and most of all, dancing with Marlys Swenson, and their numerous friends.
He leaves a lasting loving legacy through his two children and three grandchildren: Raymond “Rich” Delgado III, Captain, U.S. Navy, his wife LaDonna Delgado, and daughters Cora and Faith of Slidell, Louisiana; Lisa Marie Weeden and her daughter, Kelsey, of Millbury, Massachusetts; and his special friend, Marlys Swenson of Rake, Iowa. Also surviving are close family friends Trudy Cole Haugen, Todd Cole and Tom Cole, and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Richard, Sr., and Irene Delgado, and long-time partner, Carol Jean Cole, of Blue Earth.
