Ray Routh

June 30, 1917 — September 11, 2010

The Funeral Service for Ray A. Routh, 93, of rural New Richland, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Richland. The Reverend Paul Andree will officiate. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Richland. Visitation will be from 5-8p.m. on Monday at Friedrich Funeral Home New Richland, and one hour before the service at the church. Ray died peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 11.

He was born on June 30, 1917, in Adams County, Iowa the son of Cyrus and Ollie (HogenKamp) Routh. His family moved to the New Richland area in 1921, and he attended rural school in Byron Township.

He married Dorothy Amundson on April 16, 1939, in Forest City, Iowa. They had lived in Freeborn and he worked for various farmers in Freeborn and Waseca counties until 1946 when he returned to the home farm. It was here that he lived, farmed, raised his family and resided until his death. In addition to farming, he also owned his own trucking company which he enjoyed. Working with horses gave him enjoyment as well. When farming gave opportunity to getting away, Ray took opportunity to travel and saw many parts of the country.

He is survived by his children: Sally Routh of Bellevue, WA, Dennis(Joyce) Routh, David (Paula) Routh, Scott (Julie) Routh, Mitch (Suzy) Routh all of New Richland, Kelly (Lori) Routh of Hartland, Kipp Routh (special friend Monica Olson) of New Richland, daughter-in-law Mary Routh of New Richland, son-in-law Gordy Anderson of Lake Crystal, MN; 22 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sisters: Leah (Harlan) Berg of New Richland, Mary Walley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jean (Keith) Wilkinson of Red Wing, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy in 1990, daughter Barbara Anderson, son Dean Routh, brothers Alden, Rex, Floyd and Glen.
