A memorial service for Randy J. Chryst will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. The Reverend Dwight Netzer is officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
Randy passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Grand Meadow Care Center in Grand Meadow, MN. He was 61 years old. Randy Joe Chryst was born on April 10, 1956 in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the son of Donald and Shirley (Fleming) Chryst. He was raised and received his education in Albert Lea, having been a graduate of the Albert Lea High School Class of 1974. Upon his high school graduation he attended the Univserity of Minnesota, having received a bachelor degree in Mining Engineering.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Phillips in the summer of 1983 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. To this union, two children were born, Emily Grace Chryst and Daniel Russell Chryst. Following their marriage they made their home in the communities of Dumont, Colorado; Arvada, Colorado, and then to Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
Randy worked as an Engineer in the mining industry in Colorado, for many years. He then worked as a plant manager for Waste Management in Denver, Colorado for several years and then finally, for MTS in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The highlight of his career was working with Ferrari's Formula 1 team, designing tires through MTS.
Randy was a designer and builder at heart, he loved to build model airplanes, cars, and rockets. He also enjoyed sail boating, fishing, and was an excellent cook. Most of all, Randy was devoted to his family. He would attend almost every one of his children's extracurricular events. He can be described as a caring, intelligent, and kind person who always wanted the best for his family.
Survivors include his parents, Donald and Shirley Chryst, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; his daughter, Emily Chryst, of Portland, Oregon; his son, Daniel Chryst, of Los Angeles, California; his two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jeff and Kris Chryst, of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Mark Chryst, of Tomah, Wisconsin; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Jeff Hoyt, of Scappoose, Oregon and many loving nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
