Philip Van Beek

Funeral services for Philip G. VanBeek of Hollandale, MN, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Albert Lea. Pastor Kent Otterman will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Groups.

Philip died Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center. He was 84 years of age.

Philip was born September 20, 1934 in Albert Lea, MN, the son of Ira and Mable (Jansma) VanBeek. He graduated from Albert Lea High School and was united in marriage to Carol VanderHorst in Hollandale, MN, in 1957. He served in the US Air Force stationed in Texas. Philip was a lifelong resident of Freeborn County and had been employed in maintenance with District #241 public schools.

In his free time, he enjoyed riding his Gator, watching NASCAR, woodworking, camping and trips up north. He also collected tractors and calendars.

Philip is survived by his wife Carol of Hollandale, MN, children Becky (Daniel) Cole of Standish, Maine, Linda VanBeek of Albert Lea, MN, Cindy (Michael) Severtson of Austin, MN, Jeff (Emily Hardison) VanBeek of Albert Lea, MN. Grandchildren include Daniel Jr., Jacob, Rhonda, Dalton, Ethan, Anna, Madison, Olivia, Spencer and Ellie. Great Grandchildren Dustin, Derek, Kylie, Bryson, Zilphy, Keegan, Alexis, Rhylan, Austin, Elijah and Chandler. One brother survives; Tom (Julie) VanBeek of Des Moines, IA, sister in law Joan Reynen of Albert Lea, MN, brother in law Wayne (Alice) VanderHorst and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, two brothers, one sister, one brother in law and one sister in law.
