Margaret Ann “Peggy” was born on January 31, 1947, in Albert Lea, to Vivian and Rance Lane. She graduated from New Richland Hartland High School in 1965 and then attended Mankato State College. She was united in marriage to Thomas Borchard on October 25, 1970 in Minneapolis.  Peggy had worked for N.S.P. in Minneapolis and St. Cloud.  The couple returned to New Richland in 1974, and Peggy served as the secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church and then Owatonna Oral Surgery for several years before she retired. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, volunteered at church events and was a part of the Trinity quilters. Throughout her life Peggy enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting and all kinds of crafts. Many were the recipients of handmade gifts made with love. Peggy was active in her children’s lives, volunteering at school events and she was even a troop leader for Girl Scouts, as well as  Boy Scouts.

Peggy died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 15, in her home.  She was 70. She will be lovingly missed by her husband Tom, three children: Dan Borchard (Lori Shock) of Owatonna, Lynn (Keith) Goepfert and children Kolton, Konner and Erin of St. Michael, MN, Laurie Borchard (Neal Narahara) of Los Angeles, CA; sisters: Janice(Bob) King of Colfax, Iowa, Carol King of Cumming, Iowa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: David Borchard (Pat Donohoe) of Shepherdstown, WV, Clark (Bonnie) Borchard of Minnetonka, MN, Carol (Dave) Wolter of Albert Lea and many nieces and nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian Johnson and Rance Lane, her brother-in-law Thomas King, mother-in-law and father-in-law Ralph and Ruth Borchard.

Peggy had a way of bringing everyone together and making everyone feel special.  The many birthday parties, thoughtful gifts and kind words she shared will always be treasured.  Her strong faith, positive attitude and keen sense of humor, made all of us who knew and loved her feel richly blessed.
