Funeral Service for Paul Amann of Albert Lea will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 14, 2012 at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea, MN. Father Timothy T. Reker and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before service at the church. Interment will be at St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Veterans Organizations.
Paul died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at his home in Albert Lea. He was 69 years old.
Paul was born in Anniston, Alabama on July 31, 1943, the son of Armin and Kathryn (Mellang) Amann.
He was a life long resident of Albert Lea, MN. Paul graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1961 and from Mankato State College in 1969. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 – 1965. Paul was married to Bonnie Sydnes on October 28, 1967 in Albert Lea, MN. Paul was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. He was on church council serving as a past president and Grand Knight Faithful Navigator. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant from 1969 to present, having completed his 43rd tax season.
Paul served on the United Way Board, Red Cross Board, Exalted Ruler of the Albert Lea Elks Club, MN Elks Youth Camp, President of Rotary Club, President of Community College Foundation. Member of theElks Club, Eagles Club, American Legion and a 4th Degree Knight.
Paul enjoyed fishing, especially his trips to Canada. He loved spending time with his family and grandkids and going to the cabin in Brainerd.
Paul is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Albert Lea, MN; daughter, Paula (Todd) Burkart of Eagan, MN. and son, Eric Amann of Albert Lea, MN; grandchildren: Brittany (Cory) Holm and Kadin Burkart; sisters: Jean (Lee) Van Guilder of Albert Lea, MN, Beth (John) Ruud of Albert Lea, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack Amann.
