Funeral services for Palma A. Richardson of New Richland, MN, will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the LeSeuer River Lutheran Church, rural New Richland, MN. Pastor Paul Meierding will officiate. Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 PM the day of the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery, Hartland, MN.
Palma died early Thursday morning, July 21, 2011 at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center. She was 92 years of age.
Palma was born October 21, 1918 in Hartland, MN, the daughter of Anton and Julia (Nelson) Olson. She graduated from Freeborn High School, Freeborn, MN, and on November 25, 1942 was united in marriage to Alert Richardson.
Palma was a member of the LeSeuer River Lutheran Church and was active in Church Circle and taught Sunday school. She had been employed by the E.F. Johnson Co. in Waseca for over 25 years, Land-O-Lakes in New Richland and was a custodian at Country Neighbors in New Richland. Palma was a member of the Garden Club in New Richland. She enjoyed playing the piano and loved gardening. She was a very generous and outgoing person who loved to spend time with family and her grandchildren. In 1961 she was elected "Queen for the day" at the Minneapolis Auquatennial.
Palma is survived by her children; Dean and his wife Kathy Richardson of Freeborn, MN, Sherman and his wife Ramona Richardson of Hinkley, MN, Ruth Ann and her husband Frank Yegge of Lake Mills, IA, Dianne Richardson of Fairfax, VA.
Grandchildren include; Monica (Chad) Schutrop, Lance (Christine) Rebelein, Kristi Richardson, Kari Richardson, Kati Richardson, Lisa Yegge, Kelly (Kevin) Till, Stephanie (Craig) Poling, Cheryl (Kenny) Harris and Michael Yegge. There are several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Palma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Millard, Raymond, Orville, Helmer and Herman. Sisters Agnes Lien and Ardis Berg.
