Orlin Lewer

The Funeral Service for Orlin Martin Lewer of New Richland will held at

11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 9, 2009 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran

Church. Pastor Gerald Giese will officiate. Interment will be in St. Peter’s

Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Sunday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland and one hour before the service at the church.

Orlin died on Friday, March 6, 2009 at the New Richland Care Center .

He was 88. Orlin was born June 9, 1920, in Waseca, MN to Martin and Marie (Priebe) Lewer. He attended Waseca country schools and graduated from high school in Waseca. Orlin married Ruth Brase on June 26, 1942, in Meriden , MN .

They lived on the family farm until they retired and moved into New Richland . Orlin farmed most of his adult life. He was actively involved in numerous

community boards and activities. He was also a custodian at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in New Richland where he was a life long active member.

Orlin enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bird watching, traveling and reading.

He also enjoyed gardening and sharing the bounties of the garden with family

and friends. Most of all Orlin enjoyed spending time with his family and

friends.

He is survived by four children: Sandra Kampen and husband David of

Prior Lake , MN , Dr. James Lewer and wife Joan of Omaha , NE , Craig

Lewer and wife LuAnn of Mazzeppa, MN, and Randy Lewer and wife

Mary of New Richland , MN .

Fourteen grandchildren: Christopher Kampen and wife Jenni of Prior Lake, MN, Steven Kampen and wife Joanne of Prior Lake, MN, Katherine

Davenport and husband John of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Joshua Lewer and wife Melissa of

Washington, IL, Carolyn Miles and husband Glen of Gallatin, TN, Elizabeth Lewer of Omaha, NE, Renee Bishop and husband Ryan of River Falls, WI, Jenelle Holst and husband Michael of Hager City, WI, DeAnn Kautz of Anchorage, AK, Meghan

Sharpe and husband Daniel of Albertville, MN, Teresa Lewer of Maplewood, MN,

Daniel Lewer and wife Amber of New Richland, MN, Karla and Adam Lewer of

New Richalnd, MN; twenty two great grandchildren: Hannah, Samuel, Joseph, Nathaniel, and Abigail Kampen, Jared, Madeline, Justin and Mason Davenport, Stephanie and Jacob Lewer, Jordan Ardery and Thyre Huss, Kenna, Brooklyn and Bailee Bishop, Michael and Justin Holst, Madilyn, Kailee and Chase Sharpe

and Sydney Lewer. Orlin is also survived by brother Donald Lewer, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donald and Natalie Brase, sisters-in-law Marion Mitchell and

Audrey Brase and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Orlin was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, parents Martin and Marie Lewer,

infant daughter and great granddaughter Julia Lewer.
