Funeral Services for Olive M. (Sonnek) Hefner, will be held at 10:30 on Monday, December 21, 2015 at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea. The Reverend Russell Scepaniak will officiate. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery in Wells. Friends may visit with family one hour before services at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family. Olive died on Friday, December 18, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Community. She was 100. She was born on December 6, 1915, in Faribault County, MN, the daughter of Joseph J. and Agnes (Cegla) Sonnek.
Olive was united in marriage to Leo Hefner on November 25, 1941, in Wells, MN. They had lived in Easton and Wells, and later made their home in Albert Lea. She had worked at Mallons Egg processing plant in Wells. Olive had been a member of the Union Center in Albert Lea where she helped serve many meals.
She was also a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.
In earlier years Olive and Leo had opportunity and enjoyed traveling. She also enjoyed baking, playing cards, gardening and was a part of the "Coffee Clutchers" group. Her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly were her "little chicks". Olive was a true animal lover, her cats Poncho #1 and Poncho #2 were also dear to her. Olive is survived by: brother George(Pat)Sonnek of Wells, MN, sister's-in-law Marion Sonnek , Victoria Sonnek and Bernice Sonnek, all of Wells, MN, brother –in-law Ralph Huxford of Waseca, MN, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo Hefner, her parents, Joseph and Agnes Sonnek, sisters Elaine Huxford, Marian Thompson and Alice Feuerhelm; 4 brothers: Joseph Jr. , Ralph, Donald and Jerome Sonnek; brothers-in-law Wayne Feuerhelm and Larry Thompson; sister-in-law Myrtle Sonnek.
