Nellie Rasmusson

The funeral service for Nellie M. Rasmusson will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 2 PM at the Emmons Lutheran Church. Reverend Cathi Braash will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Emmons.
Nellie Rasmusson passed away on September 25, 2012 at Oak Park Place in Albert Lea. She was 96 years old.
Nellie was born on February 11, 1916. The daughter of Cornelius and Cora (Myrand) Slette, she attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School. On January 28, 1939 she married Everett Rasmusson in Northwood, IA, and together they raised 3 children. The two resided in Emmons and following Everett's retirement, spent 17 years wintering in Mesa, AZ.
Nellie was a member of Emmons Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, and participated in the church circle. She also was active in the Emmons Civic Improvement Club, the Senior Citizens Club, and the Legion Auxiliary.
She was a family oriented, kind woman who loved playing cards, sewing, baking, making lefse and lutefisk, golfing, crafts, and the Minnesota Twins.
Nellie is preceded in death by her husband, Everett; son, Alan Rasmusson; brothers, Curt Slette, Norman Slette, Lloyd Slette, and Cornelius Jr Slette; sisters-in-law, Mavis Lande, Dorothy Slette, and Lorraine Slette; and brother-in-law Raymond Lande.
She is survived by her children, Joanne (Earl) Jensen of Apple Valley, and Judy (Bob) Brown of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Greg (Corrine) Jensen of Apple Valley, Michele Jensen of Eagan, Lisa (Chris) Germann of Burnsville, Shari (Jim) Esson of Austin, and Lori (Jeff) Thaves of Belle Plaine; great grandchildren, Lindsey Jensen, Tyler Jensen, Afton Esson, Mackenzie Esson, Kelsey Thaves, Colin Thaves, Hakon Germann, and Maren Germann; sister-in-law, Lorraine Slette of Albert Lea, daughter-in-law Ghyslaine Rondeau of Ottawa, Canada; nieces and nephews, and other loving friends.
