Funeral services for Mildred M. Anderson will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Father Russell Scepaniak will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.
Mildred passed away at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Albert Lea on Friday, January 8, 2016. She was 92 years old.
Mildred Marie (Holan) was born on October 16, 1923 to Joseph and Mina (Hendrickson) Holan in Wells, MN. She grew up in Wells, and attended school through the 9th grade. In March of 1945, she was united in marriage to Bernard Sondergard, and two children were born: Michael and Jerry. The couple later divorced. In May of 1956 she was united in marriage to Duane M. Anderson. To this union, three children were born: Rodney, Laura, and Joseph.
Mildred worked mainly as a waitress. She worked at Chef Café, B&B Café, and the Elbow Room. She was a faithful member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. In her free time, she enjoyed to write poetry, tell stories of her youth, listen to music, sing, and play bingo. She would also try her luck at a few scratch off tickets from time to time. Mildred can be described as a loving, happy, and genuine person. She loved to spend time with people, and enjoyed conversation. But most importantly, she loved and cared for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Sondergard; second husband, Duane Anderson; both parents; and siblings, George Holan and Mary (Gerald) Schultz.
Those left to carry on her legacy include her children, Michael (Sue) Sondergard, of New Germany, MN, Jerry (Peggy) Sondergard, of Princeton, MN, Laura (Dale) Holstad, of Northwood, IA, Rodney (girlfriend, Dawn Johnson) Anderson, of Albert Lea, and Joseph (Cathy) Anderson, of Lake Mills, IA; step children, Robert (Linda) Anderson, of Spearfish, SD, and Duane Jr. (Julie) Anderson, of Waconia, MN; grandchildren, Jason (fiancée, Brittany Stearns) Holstad, Jennifer Holstad, Christopher and Tanya Anderson, Jennifer, Peter, Bobbi Jean, Shanan Curtis, Pam, and Ivy Sondergard; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers John (Janice) Holan of St. Paul, MN, James (Lori) Holan of Madison, MN; sisters; Betty Holan of Austin, MN and Marian (Clarence) Weckwerth of Wells, MN; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
