Funeral services for Mike will be held at 2PM Saturday, October 22, 2016 at First Lutheran Church in Glenville. Reverend Nancy Hansen will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Friday, October 21 at Bonnerup Funeral Service (2210 East Main) in Albert Lea and again one hour prior to the service at church.

Michael Ray Kalvig of Glenville, Minnesota, died suddenly in a semitrailer truck accident in Winona County on October 18, 2016. He was one day shy of his 47th birthday.

Mike was born on October 19, 1969 to parents Harold and Kate (Weis) Kalvig in Carmichael, California. They moved to Northwood, Iowa when Mike was one year old and later moved to Glenville, Minnesota. Mike graduated from Glenville High School and married his high school sweetheart, Tammy Olson, on October 21, 1989 at First Lutheran Church in Glenville. Together, they raised three wonderful children.

Over 25 years ago, Mike began his career driving truck. Fifteen years ago Mike and his dad started Double K Express. Mike's children have fond memories of riding in the truck with their dad and having daily phone calls with him while he was over the road. Mike loved getting ready for demolition derbies and doing mechanical work with his hands. In his free time, he enjoyed going hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his outstanding character and devoting his love and his time generously to his family.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Kalvig; children, Cody (Rochelle) Kalvig, Tanner Kalvig, Marissa Kalvig; grandchildren, Alexis, Brantley, Chloey, and Kaleb; parents, Harold and Kate; grandparents, Arthur and Cathy Kalvig; brother, Rusty (Brandy) Kalvig; parents-in-law, Elard and Florence Olson; brothers-in-law, Tarryl (Heide) Olson, Steve (Nik) Olson; sister-in-law, Shellby Olson; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hubert and Pat Weis.
