Obituary for Merritt LaVern Partlow
The memorial service for Merritt LaVern Partlow will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 11, 2005 at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel in Albert Lea. Pastor Kent Otterman will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Menlo, Iowa. There will be no visitation prior to the time of the service.
Merritt died on Friday, March 4, 2005 at Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea, MN. He was 90 years old.
Merritt was born in Estherville, Iowa on May 17, 1914, the son of Vern and Ruth (Fry) Partlow. He was a graduate of Menlo High School, Menlo, Iowa.
Merritt was united in marriage with Lola Marjorie Tillman on February 5, 1938 in Princeton, MO. They lived in several towns in Iowa, Windom, MN and Albert Lea, MN while Merritt was a salesman for Foxbelt Seeds and in Watertown, SD from 1969-2002 where he managed the Plaza Movie Theater for 25 years. They were active members of the United Methodist Church in Watertown.
Merritt was active in the Lions Club and served on the Salvation Army board while in Watertown and he had organized a Boy Scout troop while living in Windom, MN. He was an avid reader and in his younger years enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Merritt is survived by his wife, Lola of Albert Lea, MN; three children: Connie Davis of Cheyenne, WY, Jim (Barb) Partlow of Grafton, MA, Debbie (Don) Goodnature of Clarks Grove, MN; ten grandchildren: Matt Jeffrey of Vail, CO, Mark Davis of Tacoma, WA, Dina Davis of Highlands Ranch, CO, Todd (Yvonne) Davis of Spring, TX, Eric (Joy) Davis of Wellington, CO, Kurt (Kerry) Partlow of North Grafton, MA, Geoff Partlow of North Bridge, MA, Erik Partlow of Grafton, MA, Corey (Lori) Goodnature, Savannah, GA, Amy (Ben) Purdy of Alden, MN; four great grandchildren: Shea and Brennan Goodnature, Kane Purdy, and Isabella Davis; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Smith; one brother, Bill Partlow; son-in-law, Richard Davis.
Merritt will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Blessed be his memory.
