Maynard Rathai

Funeral services for Maynard John Rathai of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Father Dale Tupper will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Richland, MN.
Maynard died Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Mayo Health Systems Albert Lea. He was 82 years of age.
Maynard was born May 19, 1934 in Wells, MN, the son of Vincent and Anna (Veloske) Rathai. He graduated from High School in Minnesota Lake and lived most of his life in Mankato, MN. He had been employed for over 24 years at Minnesota Automotive, "MICO" in Mankato, MN.
Maynard was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mankato and most recently at St. Casmir's Catholic Church in Wells, MN.
Maynard was one of the few survivors of the polio epidemic in Minnesota Lake back in the 1940's. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include one son Curtis (Leah) Rathai of Lake Crystal, MN, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, sister Delores Stencel of Albert Lea, MN, and niece Kimberly Stencel of Albert Lea, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Marvin Rathai and one sister Everald Sailor.
