Memorial services for Maxine J. Colstrup of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Albert Lea, MN. Pastor Todd Walsh will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Chapel.
Maxine, age 73, passed away at her home on Friday, February 7, 2014
Maxine was born to Harley and Lucille (Hanna) VanHorn in Iowa City, Iowa, February 19, 1940. Maxine attended school in Iowa. On September 5, 1959 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Colstrup. She worked for Wells Fargo for 27 years in Albert Lea, MN, and for five years at the Wells Fargo Bank in Grand Rapids, MN, retiring after 32 years in 1999.
Maxine was a special wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and sister. She was able to enjoy her husband's dream of living on a lake in Northern Minnesota for 21 years prior to returning to Albert Lea.
Maxine is survived by son Scott Colstrup, Remer Minnesota, daughter Julie (Terry) Stahl, Albert Lea Minnesota. Three grandchildren Andrea Colstrup, Christopher Stahl, and Tyler Stahl. Sisters Donna (James Caldwell), Waterloo, Iowa, Anita (Harvey) Madsen, Texas, Ben (Eva) VanHorn, Columbus, WI, Jack (Diane) VanHorn, Northwood, Iowa, special friend Ken Hermanson, and his family as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Colstrup, parents, Lucille and Harley Van Horn, one sister, Mary Lou and a brother Darrell VanHorn., In laws Sophus and Ellenora Colsrup.
