Mavis Anna Parrish (Hanson), born on September 9, 1928, in Freeborn County, Minnesota, peacefully passed away at home on February 7, 2025. Mavis was a beloved figure in her community, known for her warm spirit and dedication to her family and friends.
Retiring as a Materials Receiver at Fountain Industries in Albert Lea, Mavis exemplified a strong work ethic throughout her life, holding various jobs before settling into her long career with the company. A proud graduate of high school, she carried the values of education and hard work with her into every aspect of her life.
Family was central to Mavis's existence. She married Eugene Parrish on December 1, 1948, and together they built a loving family. Mavis is survived by her children: Charlene Meyer, Clarinda (Walter) Miller, and Diane (Dave) Matthies. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Wesley and Katie Miller, Melissa and Tim Erickson, Joshua Reed, Holly Matthies, Angela Meyer and Will Caldwell, Brian Miller, Jennifer Reed, and Jessica Reed. Mavis was also the proud great-grandmother of Samantha Miller, Morgan Erickson, Tabitha Erickson, Isabelle Miller, Elizabeth Miller, Merina Caldwell, Vincent Reed, Faith Reed, and Elianne Caldwell.
Mavis cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, creating countless memories for her family through her passions for crocheting and reading. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she found community and fellowship, embodying the values of love and kindness that she shared with those around her.
Mavis is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Parrish; her daughter, Sharon Reed; her grandson, Christopher Matthies; as well as her brothers Raymond, Vivian, and Gordon Hanson, and Byron Hanson.
Visitation for Mavis will be held on February 12, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. A funeral service will take place the following day, February 13, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM, also at Bonnerup Funeral Service.
Mavis Anna Parrish will be deeply missed by all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
