Funeral services for Maurine M. Levisen will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday June 4th, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Reverend Gary Harris will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday June 3rd at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
Maurine passed away at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN on Saturday, May 23, 2015. She was 94 years old.
Maurine M. (Behle) and her twin sister were born on December 25, 1920 to Edward C. and Rosetta A. (Steele) Behle in Armstrong Township. In her younger years, she was very active in 4-H. She was raised in the Alden area, and graduated from Alden High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Earl A. Levisen on July 10, 1946 at Concordia Lutheran Church of Pickerel Lake. From this union, three children were born.
Maurine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the Altar Guild, Ladies Aid, and various Circles. She started working at Woolworth's Dime Store, and later worked at Skinner Chamberlane Department Store, Herbergers, and The Yarn Shop where she employed her talents in knitting and crocheting. Maurine was a member of the Danish Brotherhood. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, and fishing. In 2009, she moved to Inver Glen Senior Living in Inver Grove Heights, where she sang in the choir, played in the band, volunteered at the preschool, attended bible study, and taught knitting classes.
Maurine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; siblings, Marie (Paul) Metzger and Harold (Lavon) Behle; son-in-law, Bernie Schuman; and grandson, Kurt Schuman.
Maurine is survived by her three daughters, Rosemary Lynn Schuman, of Hayward, WI, Karen Levisen, of Apple Valley, and Julie (Dale) Hammons, of Inver Grove Heights; grandchildren, Keith Schuman of Rosemount, Kristopher (Rebecca) Gerber, of Minneapolis, Nathan Gerber of Minneapolis, Nicole Zeimis, of Chicago, IL, Jeremy (Laura) Zeimis, of Eau Claire, WI; great-grandchildren, Katie and Erin Schuman of Rosemount, Lyle and Otis Gerber of Minneapolis, and Parker Zeimis, of Eau Claire, WI; brothers-in-law, Arnold Levisen, Mike (Pat) Levisen; and a sister-in-law, Dolly Levisen, all of Albert Lea and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers and can be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea or Amazing Grace Lutheran of Inver Grove Heights.
