Mary Ann Hansen, 76, of Austin, formerly of Hollandale, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin, with her loving family by her side.
Born on March 1, 1948, in Albert Lea, Mary was a daughter of the late Cornelius and Olga (Enstad) Bothof. A 1966 graduate of Albert Lea High School, went on to study Key Punch Operating at the Minnesota School of Business. On April 27, 1968, Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life, Terry Hansen. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments.
Known for her warm and social nature, Mary had the ability to effortlessly make friends wherever she went. She had a passion for horseback riding, especially amidst the scenic trails of Forestville State Park. An outdoors enthusiast, Mary found solace in tending to her vibrant flowers and well-kept lawn. She took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories with each visit.
A lover of music, Mary delighted in playing the clarinet and was often found humming along to her favorite tunes. Her playful and jovial spirit endeared her to all who knew her, and she was fondly remembered as a jokester, always ready to bring a smile to those around her.
Those left to cherish Mary’s memory include her husband of 56 years, Terry Hansen; daughters, Kim (Dave) Klingfus and Andria Hansen; grandchildren, Codi (Savannah) Percival, Ian (Jessica) Klingfus, Maggie (Levi Larsen) Klingfus, and Danielle (Aaron) Nickolson; great-grandchildren, Derek, Bennett, Chezne and Ethan; sisters, Dee (Tony) Spiering and Diane Carlin; a brother-in-law, Scott (MJ) Hansen; her darling horse, Matiz; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and countless friends.
In addition to her parents, Cornelius and Olga, Mary was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Klingfus; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Klingfus; parents-in-law, Wayne and Gretchen (Schiager) Hansen; brothers-in-law, Kevin Carlin and Craig Hansen; and two beloved horses, Farris Fan Dancer and McCoy’s Fair Dream.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Bonnerup Funeral & Cremation Services, in Albert Lea. The family will receive friends at visitations to be held from 5-7:00PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hollandale Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Sacred Heart Care Center and Mayo Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Mary.
